TWO SIMILAR GILT LACQUER EIGHT-FOLD SCREENS 19TH CENTURY Each screen is delicately decorated in shades of gilt and pewter inlay, one side features scenes of figures farming, weaving, hunting, and at leisure, all within a border of confronting dragons chasing the flaming pearl on one screen, and various longtailed birds on the other. The reverses are decorated with birds and butterflies amongst flowering branches, all within a scrolling border. Each panel, 84 ½ in. (214.5 cm.) high; 22 in. (56 cm.) wide
