Sparks, Edwin Erle, ed. Collections of the Illinois State Historical Library. Volume III. Lincoln Series, Vol. 1. The Lincoln-Douglas Debates. of 1858. Springfield (IL): Illinois State Historical Library, 1908. 8vo, in presentation binding - red morocco with gilt spine lettering and gilt edge on boards, gilt design on doublure, gilt page edges, velveteen endpapers; elaborate large bookplate of the Lincoln Centennial Association with Henry M. Dunlap on the base of the pictured statue. Includes program from Centennial Association dinner, that includes list of persons at the President's table, Henry M. Dunlap is number 13 of 36 at the table. There is also the placecard for the Hon. Mr. Dunlap, that includes the Gettysburg Address on verso. Second front endpaper with signatures of Wm. H. Taft (as President); C.S. Deneen (Gov. of Illinois); W.B. McKinley (William Brown McKinley, Member of Congress from Illinois, 1905-1912, 1915-1926); James A. Rose (Secretary of State); John C. Ames (U.S. Collector of Customs); Wm. H. Stead (IL Attorney General); Charles Adkins (Speaker House Reps.) and Henry M. Dunlap (Senator 24th District). The offices next to each name are in a different hand than signers; at bottom of list in same hand: "Springfield, Ills. Feby. 11th, 1911 / Lincoln banquet, Armory Building / Speaker Table." Spine and edges of boards darkened a bit. Tear in page with signatures at "banquet" - signatures unaffected, no paper missing. Little to no toning. Overall, excellent. Boutwell, George S. The Lawyer, the Statesman and the Soldier. New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1887, 1st. ed. 12mo, blue cloth, gilt front and spine, 232pp, plus 2 pp ads. Signed on inside of ffep Geo. S. Boutwell / 1892 March 26. Overall very good or better. Minor toning, no foxing. Slight wear to lower edge and corners. Henry M. Dunlap Condition: Both with mylar dustjackets.
