Evans variant state of the first edition, bound with further works listed below. 20th century cloth. 11 1/4 x 7 1/4 inches (30.2 x 19 cm); xiv,[1],16-93 pp., Collation: [A]^2 B-C^2 [D]^2 E-Z^2 2A^1 (without the index, this variant differs from the reprint edition in that signature D is unsigned). The title stamped twice in ink and somewhat toned, spotted and with ink notations, the verso of title stamped as a duplicate of the Lennox Library, the front hinge is cracked and thus the title is separated from the balance of the text block, spotting to second leaf which has a trimmed ink signature in the upper margin, some other light spotting and toned leaves but generally very clean. Sized as above: 226, [2] pp. Collation: [A]^1 [B]^1 C-2G^2 2H1 2I-3M^2 The title stamped and also with the intermittent stamp of the Warren Street Chapel, tear into upper gutter margin of 3H2 and following leaf, small repair to 2L2, some toned leaves and spotting but very clean overall. Evans 22952. Rare New York folio printings of the Acts of the first United States Congress. The second session has the fine provenance of Fisher Ames, a Representative to the first Congress from the 1st district of Massachusetts. Ames was a prominent Federalist and was a strong supporter of the Constitution. The second session also includes printings of important treaties such as the Treaty of Alliance and the Treaty of Amity and Commerce, printed in both English and French. Also of note is the Articles of a Treaty concluded at Fort Stanwix between the United States and the Warriors of the Six Nations. C The New York City Bar Association
