VERDI, Giuseppe (1813-1901). Autograph letter signed to Erminia Frezzolini, concerning a new project for which Verdi demands absolute secrecy, a quick answer and what her fees would be, summarised by Verdi himself I. Il più profondo segreto! II. La massima sollecitudine nella risposta! III. La ciffra la più modesta. , 1½ pages, octavo It is not clear to what Verdi refers but it would seem to be some plans about which he had already written to Erminia Frezzolini (1818-1884). She was a soprano who had sung the leading soprano rôles in the premieres of I Lombardi and Giovanna d'Arco . Her repertory also included Ernani, Rigoletto, Trovatore and Traviata . Her interpretations contributed to Verdi's success in Paris. Possibly the project Verdi writes about was the casting of a new production. Apparently unpublished.
