VF- (7.5). Very light wear, "R" penned top left corner, a few tiny spots of schmutz, bottom corner of cover curling just a bit. Nice mag to slab (add your own pun). Art by R. Crumb, S. Clay Wilson, Robert Wilson etc. 2nd or 3rd printing, with correct issue points as noted in Jay Kennedy's Official Underground and Newave Comix Price Guide: "$.50 cover price; no faint horizontal lines on the pages. Believed to be indistinguishable from the 3rd printing. Print run: 10,000 copies." R. Crumb, S. Clay Wilson and the gang continue to express their baroque sexual fantasies. It's been suggested that they did so at a cost: "Where there could have been an open forum for feminist art and collaborative, ground-breaking works, there was only hatred and sexism, often inspired by a man who admitted his fear and loathing of women..." -Claire Litton, "No Girls Allowed!: Crumb and the Comix Counterculture." Popmatters website, Jan. 23, 2007. "None of the male cartoonists would acknowledge this hostile element in Crumb’s work…Crumb was sacrosanct, and criticizing him was a sin that earned me ostracism." -Trina Robbins, quoted in The Life and Times of R. Crumb: Comments by Contemporaries [Kitchen Sink: 1998]. PBA Grading Guarantee: Any individual comic book lot (not group lots) graded by PBA is guaranteed to match CGC grading. If the buyer chooses to have the comic CGC certified and that certification is lower than PBA’s, the lot may be returned for a full refund of the sales price (hammer price plus buyer’s premium). See terms and conditions for details. Consignments Accepted for PBA's Next Comic Book Auction. Golden Age, Silver Age, Pre-Code, Original Art, Interesting Ephemera Sought.
