Victor Vasarely (Hungarian/French, 1908-1997) Halph, 1974 Signed "vasarely-" in pen l.c., inscribed, titled, dated, and signed "...1974 Vasarely-" in felt-tip pen, with a stamp from the Vasarely Center, New York, on the reverse. Acrylic and ink on board, 20 x 20 in. (50.8 x 50.8 cm), framed. Condition: Very minor craquelure. Provenance: From the artist to the Vasarely Center; purchased from the Vasarely Center by the present owner. N.B. The work is no. 2806 in the artist's archives. A copy of an appraisal from the Vasarely Center, April 28, 1986, accompanies the lot. We wish to thank Pierre Vasarely for his kind assistance; the work will be presented in the catalogue raisonné of the artist prepared by the Fondation Vasarely in Aix-en-Provence.
