Voyages.- Arago (Jacques Etienne Victor) Narrative of a Voyage Round the World, in the Uranie and Physicienne Corvettes, commanded by Captain Freycinet, during the years 1817, 1818, 1819, and 1820, first edition, half-title, folding map, 25 fine lithographed plates after Arago, tissue guards, one or two cropped with loss to imprint, map foxed and offset onto title, some foxing to plates, contemporary paste-paper boards with vellum tips, uncut, old engraved label for J.Andrews Bookseller mounted on upper cover (a little worn at lower edge), rubbed, rebacked in green morocco, [Ferguson 885; Sabin 1865], 4to, 1823. ⁂ France's first post-Napoleonic circumnavigation, by the official artist on the expedition with more realistic plates than anything previously published and including descriptions of Hawaii, the Pacific Islands, Australia & New Zealand, South America and the Falkland Islands.
