Lot of 3 albumen photographs, each 7.5 x 5 in., mounted to 8.5 x 6 in. on grey cardstock. Images include a Pawnee couple identified on verso with pasted label as "E-rah-cot-ta-hot, In the Front of Battle" or Jim Curoux and his wife, Skeedee. Curoux appears draped in furs and seated in a chair, with Skeedee standing beside him. Also with a profile portrait of a Hidatsa man, "Tcecaqaoaic" or Lean Wolf, as titled in the negative, and with pasted identification label on reverse. Lot completed by a photograph of Little Bear, of the Kansa tribe, with pasted identification label on reverse stating, "Min-chu zhin-ga, Young Grizzley bear. A number of the Kan-ze or Wind gens of the Kansa or Kansa or Kanze tribe." Provenance:American Indian Photography Collection of John W. Painter (1929-2008) Condition: Bumped corners; mat along upper margin of Pawnee couple appears to have had tape.
