First edition, first state of the plates, with the plate numbers within the plate line and with plate 70/71 reading "Warwick Shire." Ware's Complete Body provides a comprehensive overview of Georgian architectural theory and practice. 2 volumes, folio (412 x 258 mm). Title-page printed in red and black. Engraved title vignette, engraved frontispiece, engraved headpiece, 114 engraved plates (14 folding, numbered irregular). (A few plates creased, or with nicks along edges, some minor staining.) Contemporary calf (rebacked, old spine laid down). Provenance : John Ingilby (early owner’s name on title); W.B. Colthunt (owner’s name dated 27 Oct. 1919 on front free endpaper). Fowler 436.
