Western Asiatic Cylinder Seal with Presentation Scene Mid 19th-late 16th century BC A carved limestone Old Syrian cylinder seal with presentation scene with an enthroned deity wearing a flounced robe and a round cap with an upturned brim and with a big topknot faces right, he left hand raised in greeting, holding in the right a kind of sceptre; the throne consists of three stacked round cushions, held in place by a frame, the deity's feet rest on a foot-stool; the deity faces two persons standing in front of him, the man turning his back on him in a slit fringe skirt with a spear repelling a lion who jumps at him, but the woman following in a long fringe robe, raising her right hand right looks at the deity; between the deity and man above there are three flat breads, below an incense-burner; upstairs between man and woman a stylised bird? and the sun disc over the crescent; accompanied by a museum-quality impression. 3.96 grams, 22mm (1").
