Read more William Conor Lot 38 - 'Motherhood' Estimate: €15,000 - €20,000 Born in Belfast in 1881, and trained as a lithographer and designer at the Belfast College of Art, William Conor is best known for his depictions of ordinary working people and scenes of everyday life. He set out to capture a sense of community and delighted in painting children; playing on streets, and in houses and churches, smiling, dancing and laughing. In this drawing in oil crayon, a young mother holds a baby, who clings to her shoulder. Both are laughing, their faces almost touching.
