Engraved frontispiece, title with engraved vignette, engraved head- and tail-pieces throughout (scattered spotting). Contemporary vellum, covers with a gilt dog-tooth roll border, upper covers each with an oval drawing (131x93 mm) in color added on top of the vellum, showing three views of historical ruins, smooth spines in 6 compartments, black and brown morocco gilt labels in 2, alternating gilt panels in the rest, edges gilt concealing fore-edge paintings of THE PYRAMIDS AND THE SPHYNX; THE ACROPOLIS and THE CASTLE OF SAINT ANGELO AND HADRIAN'S TOMB (some soiling to the covers); modern quarter morocco folding case.
