With browned finely twist sighted barrels signed along the wide damascus rib and each rifled with twelve spiral grooves, blued foliate scroll engraved leaf-sights calibrated from '120', '170' and '220' yards and each with slender platinum line, case-hardened breeches each with platinum plug and engraved with a lion-mask amid foliage on the flat between, slightly rounded signed border engraved case-hardened detented locks each decorated with foliate scrollwork, hammers and safety-catches decorated en suite, lacquered highly figured half-stock with finely chequered pistol-grip and fore-end, border engraved blued steel mounts comprising butt-plate decorated with a prone stag in a landscape within an oval and symmetrical foliate scrollwork on the heel tang, serial numbered trigger-guard en suite and with a tiger in a landscape in an oval on the bow, case-hardened trigger-plate with foliate scroll engraved pineapple-shaped finial, rear ramrod-pipe en suite, circular hinged case-hardened patch-box over decorated with a boa constrictor preying on an antelope framed by foliage, gold escutcheon engraved with owner's crest, sling mounts, brass-mounted ramrod, and in fine condition retaining nearly all its original finish: in original brass-mounted mahogany case lined and fitted in blue baize with some accessories including blued steel bullet mould, the interior of the lid with maker's trade label, the exterior with circular brass escutcheon engraved Capt. Cartwright, 15th Hussars' and centred on a flush-fitting brass carrying handle, London proof marks
