WORDSWORTH, William -- BIBLE, in Latin. Biblia cum pleno apparatu summariorum , [Lyons]: Jacob Sacon, [13 January 1511]. 8° (171 x 121mm). Title printed in red and black with a woodcut vignette of St. Jerome, black letter in double column, woodcut initial before each book, large woodcut printer's device. (Printer's device misbound at beginning, lacking a8 of 'tabula tertia' and last leaf of the 'compendiolum' a8, lower margin dampstained at beginning and end slightly affecting text, date in imprint blacked out with ink, some light soiling and spotting.) 18th-century calf, stamped in blind and black (extremities rubbed, corners bumped), slipcase. Provenance : William Wordsworth (signature on folio clxxviii) -- Marianne Clayton (purchaser's inscription, bought at the sale of Wordsworth's books at Rydal Mount, 20 July 1859, possibly lot 195 'Bible Holy; Black Letter; imperfect' in the Rydal Mount catalogue) -- St. John's School Library, Leatherhead (blindstamp on front blank). WILLIAM WORDSWORTH'S COPY, WITH HIS SIGNATURE on folio 178. This edition of the Bible is a close reprint of Jacobus Mareschal's edition of 1510. Darlow & Moule 6094.
