WORLD WAR II: AN OSS DUMMY "OTTAWA" FOUNTAIN PEN/DAGGER

Archive
Estimate: US$2,000 - US$3,000
Price realised:  n. a.
Lot number 51, Views: 28

A clandestine fountain pen, containing a steel spike weapon. [USA: 1942-45.]. A normal-looking green-cased clandestine fountain pen, marked Ottawa, and "made in U.S.A." on the brass banding, hiding inside a concealed metal spike with blood groove. Total Length 135 mm. 5.5 inches; spike length 70 mm. 2.75 inches. A rare wartime American OSS clandestine pen, with a concealed spike for either self defense or attack. The spike was used as a close quarters stabbing weapon on delicate areas, such as neck, lower back or heart. Disguised as a pen it could sit easily in a jacket pocket, and attract no interest, but curiously with this example, unlike others, there is no nib or pen device, to complete the deception, however, in the right hands, it is a deadly concealed weapon.
