With Rulings and Interpretations by the Executive Committee of the United States Golf Association in 1900 Author: Place: Boston Publisher: Wright & Ditson Date: [1901] Description: 60 + [12] ad pp. 15.2x12 cm. (6x4½"), original light olive green saddle-stitched wrappers printed in black. Early rare American golf guide, arguably the first edition, with the official rules (according USGA) and latest information of the day on various aspects of the game, including course layout, construction and maintenance, club selections, helpful hints on playing, handicapping, etiquette, plus a sizable glossary and twelve pages of ads for Wright and Ditson golf products. Inside front cover provides April 1, 1901 date and a notice: “Wright & Ditson are the pioneer Golf dealers in America. Mr. George Wright introduced Golf into New England. Wright & Ditson were the first to make Golf Clubs and Golf Balls in America. A.H. Findlay is manager of our Golf Department…” (Findlay also provides written contributions). Lot Amendments Condition: Light soiling and stains to wrappers with a few small creases, wrappers pulling from top stitch, rubber stamp from Horsemen's Bazaar on cover and title page; leaves slightly toned with a few slight creases; very good.
