Title: WWII personal diary and archive for Seaman First Class USNR Vincent Decker while aboard the USS Key, Pacific Theatre Author: ** Place: [Pacific Theatre] Publisher: Date: Jan.-Feb. 1946 Description: Contains: a rolled gelatin silver print photograph with 2 photos and a map, all on one sheet, lettered in the negative, Thompson, Los Angeles. 8x32½. * Official US Navy certificate: Honorable Discharge for Vincent Decker, dated January 8 1946. Signed by E.L. Kidd, Lt. USN for Capt. Bunting. * Group of 12 hand-written journal leaves identified as “Personal Diary, November 8, 1944 to September 26, 1945. * Certified copy of Orders dated Jan. 1946, signed by two Rep. Officials. * Official Notice of Separate from U.S. Naval Service, signed by an official and with a thumb print and signature of Vincent Decker, dated 1-8-46. * Typed letter signed by James Forrestal, Secretary of the Navy on letterhead, Feb. 6, 1946. * Printed letter with facsimile autograph of Harry Truman in thanks for military service. * 4 typed pages including History of USS Key, etc. * Plus few other paper items from Decker, including 2 miscellaneous hand-written pages, postcard and plane tickets on his flight back home. Paper items placed inside three-ring binder; rolled photo loose. Lot Amendments Condition: Minor age wear, slight darkening; else very good or better. Item number: 176072
