(x) Crimea 1854-56, 1 clasp, Sebastopol (Serjt. C. L. Marshall. 10th Hussars.), officially impressed naming, contact marks, wear, bruising to edge, nearly very fine Charles Lambert Marshall enlisted with the 10th Hussars on 11 October 1851 and was given the regimental number 1678. Promoted Lance-Corporal on 12 August 1852 after a year of service in Maidstone, England. He left for duty in Kirkee, India in October 1853, remaining there until the outbreak of the Crimean war. Transported to the Crimea with his regiment arriving April 1855. While there Marshall served in the Siege of Sebastopol, but left in late 1855 for Turkey. Promoted Sergeant 15 October 1855. While in Turkey he performed guard duties at Ismid on the Aegean Coast, leaving for England with his regiment on 6 June 1856. Discharged on 31st March 1857 as a result of the reduction of the military establishment. He appears in the 1861 census working as a Surgeon's Assistant; sold together with copied research including pay lists, Adjutant's records and census information.
