Katalognummer: NE0320-149 YASUAKI: A FINE IVORY NETSUKE OF A SEATED MAN By Yasuaki (Homei), signed Yasuaki Japan, Tokyo, Meiji period (1868-1912) A fine, small carving depicting a seated man with a movable head and tongue. The man has both of his hands placed on his lap, his trousers are stained in green, and the hat behind him is tied in the front with a minutely carved green-stained rope. His entire robe is embellished with green-stained ivory, horn and mother-of-pearl. The underside with the himotoshi ringed in horn and the signature on his behind in seal form YASUAKI 保明 (Homei) within a red-lacquer cartouche. The ivory is superbly polished and lustrous in its appearance. HEIGHT 2.8 cm Condition: Very good condition with only very minor wear. Provenance: French private collection.
