12 Bottles of Barolo 'Lazzarito' Vietti 2012 Piemonte, Italy Creating their first wines in 1919, the Vietti estate has been at the forefront of pioneering single-vineyard Barolo & Barbaresco. The Currado family owns vineyards in each of the 11 Barolo villages and also helped to save the white grape variety Arneis from extinction with help from the late Bruno Giacosa. Writing for Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, Italian wine expert Antonio Galloni said: “I think it is fair to say readers will be stunned by the quality of the wines that are emerging from this family-run property in Castiglione Falletto.” So prepare yourself to be stunned. The 2012 Barolo 'Lazzarito' impresses for its precision and class, two qualities that aren't easy to find in wines from this Serralunga site. Iron, smoke and white pepper lift from the glass in a vertical, structured Barolo endowed with real pedigree. A rush of pomegranate, red cherry jam, wild flowers and blood orange meld into the huge, bright finish. In 2012, the 'Lazzarito' reconciles power and finesse like few vintages in the past. For the last few years, the 'Lazzarito' has been knocking on the door of the big boys in this lineup, but today, the 'Lazzarito' makes a strong statement that it has arrived. Sourced direct from winemaker. In Original Wooden Cases. Lot is subject to VAT on the hammer price.
