(Philippine-American War) 15 Stereoview cards with photographs of the Filipino war with the U.S. Place Published: Littleton, N.H. and New York Date Published: 1899-1900 Description: 15 stereoviews. 3x3” photographs on 3½x7" cardboard mounting cards. Comprising: 13 (including 1 duplicate) by B.W. Kilburn, Littleton, N.H. 2 by Underwood & Underwood, NY. Scarce views from the first year of the Aguinaldo Filipino native revolt against U.S. colonialism which followed the Spanish-American War. Most depict U.S. soldiers in action - repulsing a Filipino attack, routing a Filipino reconnoitering party, and engaged by Filipino outposts. Only one photo shows Filipino soldiers in combat, with another displaying the nest in a tree of a Filipino sniper. There is also a dramatic scene of the “Insurgent House of Congress on Fire” after U.S. troops attacked Malolos, the site of Aguinaldo’s First Philippine Republic, overthrown by the Americans. Two scenes show both wounded Americans and Filipinos lying on stretchers after the Battle of Malolos. And there are two hospital scenes, one of American wounded, the other of Filipino wounded (captioned “Caring for our enemies”). One uncommon photo shows two American soldiers in action beside the body of a dead Filipino, one of the enemy who had been so recently described as “little brown brothers” waiting to be freed from Spanish domination. Condition: Condition varies with some fading, soil, overall light wear; fair to good. Item#: 347139 Headline: Photos of Filipino revolt against U.S.
