Sharp central portrait as made, many other features in low relief, also as in the dies. An outstanding, indeed incredible specimen of this classic rarity in the California gold series-the only variety of Wass, Molitor & Co. coinage dated 1855. Breen enumerates the existence of eight specimens, a roster prepared before this remarkable S.S. Central America find. The discovery of multiple examples of this issue in the treasure now makes this a highly collectible variety, although still a rarity.
