Beschreibung:

Introduced in October 1908, Ford’s Model ‘T’ boasted a simple 100 inch wheelbase chassis which contrived to be both light-weight and durable thanks to the pioneering use of Vanadium steel. Powered by a 22.4hp, four-cylinder, side-valve engine, the transmission was a simple-to-use two speed planetary unit. It is said that throughout the Model ‘T’s life the thing that changed most often was the price but notable developments were the adoption of electric lighting in 1915, the enamelled radiator surround in 1916 and electric starting in 1919. Some 15 million owners were to purchase Henry Ford’s Model ‘T’ in one guise or another in a production run that lasted from 1908 to 1927. Its sturdy reliability made the Model ‘T’ chassis an obvious choice for commercial service. The robust 22.4hp engine having tremendous pulling-power combined with rugged reliability and economical running costs it was an obvious choice for the Fire Service. This Model T fire engine is most attractively presented in red livery with old-gold coachlining and varnished wooden wheels, 815 x 105’s to the front and 6.50 x 20 Michelins to the rear. It is equipped with a rear-mounted water pump and offered with fireman’s helmets, hose attachments and shovels. Seating is provided for six firemen and the vehicle is to left-hand drive specification. It was acquired for the Lips Collection in 1969 and, following a period of museum display, will require the usual careful recommissioning.
