Der Maler Günther Förg widmete sich in den 1980er Jahren der Skulptur und der Fotografie. In einem Interview mit dem Künstler und Schriftsteller David Ryan stellt er einen direkten Bezug zwischen seinen großformatigen Porträts, seinen Skulpturen und der Architekturfotografie her: «Die Verbindung besteht darin, das Foto als fast skulpturales Relief zu betrachten, der Maßstab verleiht ihm eine architektonische Dimension; es ist als jenseits des Porträtmaßstabs lesbar. Es ist wie eine Nahaufnahme, das Gleiche gilt für die Architektur; tatsächlich sehe ich beide als eine Art Architekturfotografie... aber man kann sie auch auf eine emotionale, sogar expressionistische Weise betrachten.» Günter Förg in: David Ryan, Talking Painting, London 2002, Link.

The painter Günther Förg devoted himself to sculpture and photography in the 1980s. In an interview with the artist and writer David Ryan, he draws a direct connection between his large-format portraits, his sculptures and architectural photography: «The connection is viewing the photograph as almost sculptural relief, the scale gives it an architectural dimension; they are readable as being beyond portrait scale. It's like a close-up, the same with the architecture; in fact I see them both as a kind of architectural photograph... yet they can also be seen in an emotional way, expressionistic even.» Günter Förg in: David Ryan, Talking Painting, London 2002, Link.
