Beschreibung:

The Gipsy was Austin's attempt at an off-road capable vehicle to compete with the Land Rover. Although visually similar to the Land Rover, the Gipsy's bodywork was steel and, in time, suffered badly from rust in the off-road environment it was intended for. Later models used leaf springs on the front and rear which was felt to offer a greatly improved ride over rough surfaces. It used a 2199cc petrol engine based on the one in the Austin A70; by the 1960's the compression ratio was unfashionably low, making the petrol powered vehicle unusually tolerant of low octane fuel. On offer today is what is believed to be an Austin Gipsy and, as you will see by the photos, is either a restoration project or could be used for a separate project. Appearing to be largely complete, it comes with all the major units in place. Having been stored for a number of years, the vendor has decided it is time for her to find a new home. No paperwork is available for the vehicle.
