Elle dispose d'un châssis plate forme très novateur et de suspensions indépendantes par barres de torsion. Côté moteur, on reprend le moteur de la 4CV de 750 cm3 accouplé à une nouvelle boîte longitudinale en position avant à 3 rapports. La carrosserie à 4 portes est munie d'un hayon arrière très pratique pour le chargement, aidé par une banquette repliable. Elle fut essayée durement pendant trois ans avant d'être mise sur le marché et le kilométrage total des essais représenterait 50 fois le tour de la terre. Elle commença sa carrière officielle en 1961 pour la terminer en 1992 avec plus de 8 millions d'exemplaires vendus. Le modèle présenté a été modifié à l'époque en voiture de loisirs et sa caisse robustement renforcée. Le propriétaire précédent l'actuel nous confia qu'elle aurait été modifié pour une publicité et aurait ainsi préfigurée le modèle postérieur de série, la Plein Air, rendue célèbre par la série télé des années 60 grâce aux deux aviateurs français, Tanguy & Laverdure. La caisse est saine mais présente quelques marques sur la peinture. Une révision vient d'être effectuée au garage de la poste, au Vésinet en septembre 2011. Les cylindres de roues sont neufs ainsi que l'embrayage et les quatre pneus. La capote est en Alpaga noir et les sièges en vinyle noir. Le volant est à trois branches en aluminium et du plus bel effet. Cette voiture unique, charmante et ludique prendra place dans toutes les manifestations célébrant le cinquantenaire de la 4L et fera tourner toutes les têtes près des côtes ensoleillées. The previous owner confirmed that the car was modified for advertising purposed and that this modification was done before the launch of the model called Plein Air, which featured in a TV serial from the 1960s with two French aviators, Tanguy & Laverdure. The body is in a very good state though there are some marks on the paint. A comprehensive service was carried out in the garage of the Post, at Vésinet, in September 2011. The brake cylinders are new as is the clutch and all four tyres. The hood is in black alpaca and seats are in black vinyl. The three-spoke steering wheel is in aluminum and looks very smart. This car is unique, charming and fun and can participate in all events celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the R4 and will surely turn heads at all the sunny beaches. French
