The Vespa ‘90’, first imported in 1964, marked a departure for the firm following the creation of the ‘small-frame’ 50 models, lighter and slimmer variations on the Piaggio theme. In 1966 this was developed into the rarest Vespa of all, produced in only 5000 examples, the ’90 Super Sprint’, usually called the 90 SS. The makers had copied ‘sixties racing scooters and incorporated the fore and aft spare wheel complete with a ‘race tank’ glove-box on top, plus a four-speed gearbox and tuned engine to make probably the nimblest scooter ever. This well-preserved example has done only 9000 or so miles and is in its original finish, save for the wheels, and should only need the usual careful checks before taking to the road. ODU 142 E is complete with the original tool-kit and the specified flyscreen is with the machine as are a V5 and its RF.60 logbook. Where will you find another?
