The lead designers were Paul Bracq and Béla Barényi who created its distinctive, patented, slightly concave hardtop which inspired the 'Pagoda' nickname. The model was manufactured from 1963 through to 1971 and boasted an in-line straight six engine with multi-port fuel injection. The larger and more popular capacity 280 (2.8 litre) was introduced in 1967 and remained largely unchanged until 1971. This lovely lefthand drive example was recently imported from the US and is presented in one of the most desirable colour combinations of dark blue with light cream interior and comes with its factory hardtop. Unusually, this particular car comes with air conditioning which was a later addition fitted at some point in the US, which is a welcome modern enhancement. Its light cream interior is in good condition and the lively 2.8 litre engine is mated to an automatic gearbox. According to the present owner, this Pagoda drives extremely well and in this condition with a reasonable reserve, it represents great value within this popular classic car market. The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day.
