Beschreibung:

Although larger than their predecessors, the 350SL convertible and 350SLC coupe retained the overall look of the long-running 230/250/280SL family and were the first of the Mercedes-Benz sportscar line to use a V8 engine, the latter's 200bhp more than offsetting the increase in bulk. All-independent suspension similar to that of the New Generation 200/250 models ensured superb ride and handling, while four-wheel disc brakes (ventilated at the front) helped restrain the 130mph-plus performance. There was a choice of either four-speed manual or similar automatic transmission. The 350SLC coupe was 14" longer in the wheelbase than the convertible 350SL, the extra length affording room for two rear seats, and could be distinguished by its louvred rear side window, absent from the SL. Luxuriously equipped in the finest Mercedes-Benz tradition, the 350SL and 350SLC were more sports-tourers than outright sportscars, a fact that did nothing whatsoever to harm sales that totalled in excess of 29,000 units between 1971 and 1980. First registered on 19th October 1972 and currently in the hands of its fourth owner, this righthand-drive 350SLC coupe was completely rebuilt by coachbuilders D R Bailey Ltd in the mid-1990s. Supplied by Portfield Mercedes of Chichester and Rossetts Mercedes of Worthing, all genuine Mercedes-Benz parts were used including new inner and outer front wings, new inner and outer rear wings, new boot and new bonnet. The interior trim was entirely renewed and the seats re-upholstered in genuine hide by Triggs Bros (Mike Triggs). An automatic transmission model finished in white with brown interior, the car is described as in very good condition throughout and is offered with (tax exempt) road fund licence to April 2004, MoT to May 2004 and Swansea V5.
