The new models were technically striking in three ways. A monocoque chassis was used; all wheels were sprung independently and four wheel disc brakes now ensured stopping power of the sort that had come to be expected in a modern car. Under the bonnet, the V8 engine that had been introduced in the Silver Cloud series was employed. In February 1977, the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II was introduced. The most notable changes mechanically were to the rack and pinion steering and modifications to the front suspension which improved handling markedly. This example is presented in Le Mans Metallic Blue with the desirable Cream Connolly leather interior and blue piping. This lovely British classic was stored for just under 20 years until the present owner purchased it in 2007 and carried out a light restoration and recommissioning in 2015. This work included a respray of the car from gold to its present colour of Le Mans Blue and changing the interior from the rather unpopular velour to the soft luxurious Connolly leather, which still exudes that element of class and has the aroma of well stocked library of leather bound books! The vendor has informed us that on 12th August 1980 at 8,137 miles the speedometer was changed, thus today’s reading is correct but by adding the 1980 mileage, this will provide one with the accurate mileage for the car. The mileage is documented in the service record and schedules book which has stamps from 1979 to when the car was placed into storage in September 1988. This wonderful Rolls-Royce also comes with owner’s manual, service book and various invoices which are in its original wallet. This is a striking example still providing a wonderfully luxurious ride.
