Originally introduced in 1971 in 350 SL guise with a 3.5 litre V8 engine, it spawned some eight further engine derivatives and numerous options to extend the customers’ desire for the wonderful roadster until 1989. While the C107 or SLC enjoyed a brief but relatively successful stint in rallying, the Roadster was always intended for luxurious top down motoring and as such, attracted celebrity ownership and a host of film and television appearances. Offering 197bhp and a smooth automatic gearbox with a top speed in excess of 130mph, imagine cruising along French boulevards or through Beverley Hills and you will understand the target audience for this iconic SL Roadster. Originally supplied by Normand Mercedes-Benz in Park Lane and first registered in February 1982 this low mileage Mercedes benefits from the powerful 5.0 litre V8 engine and presents in one of the most popular colour combination of red with beige. The records for this Roadster show only three previous keepers and that the car benefits from the optional factory choices of rear seats and front fog lights. The 4973cc engine for this low mileage example of the ever popular R107 Mercedes fired into action when requested and, we are informed is a joy to drive. Offered to auction with a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until December 2020, together with the original service books, this classic tourer can be enjoyed as both fun to drive and a good investment. The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day.
