Norton Motors faced the task of building saleable road machines around their innovative and race-winning rotary engine. The pick of what turned out to be excellent range, by popular acclaim, was the brilliant and stylish F1. Like almost no other bike of the period, the 140mph F1 and its race-styled and performance-boosted ‘Sport’ brother were specified with the best: Brembo four-pot brakes and White Power suspension, front and rear, matched to a Sponden alloy frame and JPS-liveried enclosure. The result, since the F1 was about twice the price of a Japanese equivalent, was that relatively few were sold and thus they remain rare and exclusive - but, then, the best usually is. K387 FAR has a history in that, according to none other than Norton Motors, it was the first twin-seat F1 Sport built by them. Its history includes a very moderate sub-5000 mileage total and, most importantly for its next owner, a rebuild by the makers ‘regardless of cost’ in 2005. This included six-speed transmission and digital ignition, polished frame with steel rear sub-frame and forged-alloy pillion hangars, gold-lined wheels and new upholstery - an impressive list by any standards. It goes without saying that this magnificent example of the F1 Sport has a V5C and all relevant documents together with a current road-fund licence and MOT. A rare opportunity.
