Internally known as the Alfa Romeo 916, The Alfa Romeo GTV Spider was effectively the replacement for the then 30 year-old Giulia Spider and was designed by Enrico Fumia at Pininfarina. The Gran Turismo Veloce or GTV was planned to re-establish the sporty coupe tradition of Alfa Romeo for the 1990s and at its launch, many journalists commented that Alfa had improved overall build quality considerably and that it came very close to equaling its German rivals, impressive credentials when seated at such a beautiful car. Revamped for the first time in 1998 (Phase 2) with mainly interior changes including new center console, painted letters on skirt seals, changed controls and switches arrangement and different instrument cluster. On the exterior main changes included chrome frame around the grille and color-coded side skirts and bumpers coupled with a slight power increase on the 2.0 TS to 153bhp. The 2.0 16V Twin Spark engine has variable inlet cam timing, giving 25 degrees of variation to improve torque and give a more linear power delivery. The 2.0 TS engine has two belt driven balance shafts to improve the smoothness of the engine, all making for what many believed to be the best combination in the GTV despite being pitched against the legendary V6 power plant. This time warp Spider presented in immaculate Rosso Red with full Black sports upholstery has the much acclaimed 2.0 twin spark engine giving the best compliment of fiery Italian soundtrack with the roof down and solid reliability and costs. Having covered just under 36,000 warranted miles from new and with just one owner and a full Alfa Romeo dealer service history this motor car is possibly the best example of a potential future classic. Original tool kit and hand books are present and with unmarked Alfa Romeo alloy wheels coupled with a recent re-spray and very good hood this can be justifiably be described as 'like new'. This pretty Italian sports car is offered with V5 Registration document, MoT test certificate until July 2014 (No Advisories), what a wonderful way to travel with a little flair this summer! ** Interested parties should note the a cambelt service was carried out in 2006 at 21,000 miles
