Introduced at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show the coupé, with its ‘Gullwing’ doors, was acknowledged as a tribute to the legendary, 1950’s 300 SL, arguably the world’s first supercar. The SLS AMG was also notable as the first car to be designed in-house by AMG, Mercedes-Benz tuning specialists. A collector’s item from the day it was announced, it succeeded the SLR McLaren at the top the German manufacturer’s range. Styled by Mark Fetherston, the SLS AMG received numerous prestigious design awards. The Mercedes-Benz SLS Roadster was introduced in 2011, completing the range. Boasting a chassis/body of mainly aluminium construction, the SLS (Sport Licht Super) is powered by a 6.2 litre, V12 engine producing 563bhp through a state of the art, seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic gearbox. An extendable rear wing keeps the SLS stable at its restricted, near 200mph top speed, while its low weight helped the coupé lap the Mercedes test track faster than its SLR McLaren predecessor. Not surprisingly, given its pedigree, the SLS AMG has proved very popular with motor racing drivers and celebrity owners alike. Several limited-edition versions have been introduced, including a GT3 racing car, leading to the final edition in 2014 the SLS AMG GT. This lovely Mercedes-Benz SLS Roadster was supplied on 26th November 2011 and has only covered 8,500 miles from new. Fully serviced and maintained by Mercedes-Benz main dealers, the first service carried out in February 2013 at 1,925 miles followed by four more services in 2014, 15, 16 and 2018. The sixth, and last service was carried out at Mercedes-Benz World, Brooklands in November 2019 at 8,448 miles. In 2014 a Mercedes-Benz main dealer retro fitted the rare option the Brabus ride control system at a cost of over £10,000. Other options supplied when the car was new include reversing camera, command APS with DVD-changer, media interface, Vodafone tracker, air scarf, memory package, tyre pressure monitoring system, 19 inch front and 20 inch rear seven spoke AMG alloy wheels and electric folding door mirrors. Finished in Iridium Silver with the exclusive Berry Red leather interior and matching red fabric roof, this is one of the few SLS roadsters built for the UK market and is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT certificate which expires in November 2020, a complete handbook pack and spare keys. Mercedes-Benz have said that there are no plans for a successor, so it remains the ultimate Mercedes model to have and to hold. The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day.
