Album sl. worn. = Personal album of a member of the Soviet border squad, stationed in the bordering region of Tadzhikistan and Afghanistan. Most locations and scenes identified in manuscript captions (in Russian), mostly in and around the town Khorod (Shugnan region and Pamir mountains). Very interesting view of early 1930s town life in Tadzhikistan, incl. industry and crafts, musicians, children playing games, an opium smoker, islamic clergy, the unveiling of a statue of Lenin and the arrival of "the first airplane in Khorod".
