A 1934 Alvis Speed Twenty SC Tourer by Vanden Plas Reg No. BLX277 Car No. 16749 Chassis No. 11926 Engine No. 13497 Body No. 3278 Green with Tan leather interior and tan hood / sidescreens. Odometer. 70,234 miles The Speed Twenty model was one of the finest and most successful pre-war Alvis models. With its powerful 2.7 litre OHV ‘straight six’ engine it allowed for smooth high speed motoring in conjunction with its all synchromesh gear box. A total of 289 chassis were constructed of which 21 carried this tourer design. It is believed today there are only 10 of this Vanden Plas design that survive. This car was first delivered to London main agent Charles Follet on the 5th October 1934, being first registered in February 1935. A long term owner (1970 to 2006) had this car comprehensively rebuilt through 1987 to 1989 in what can only be described as a ‘full nut and bolt’ restoration. During this restoration the car was adapted to run on coil ignition only and a Modern oil filter was fitted. Clearly, this car has been cherished by all its owners since the restoration, the accompanying history file records both pre restoration and post restoration maintenance. Unfortunately, due to this sale being as a result of a deceased estate we cannot provide details of works undertaken in recent years but the DVLA provide MOT history online up until 2013. From our inspection and evaluation of this car we have established that the pedal arrangement has been re-engineered to a conventional right hand foot throttle.
