Beschreibung:

A 1940-41 SIGNED BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPH OF SIR OSWALD ERNALD MOSELEY AND HIS WIFE, DIANA MOSELEY (MITFORD) AND ONE OF THEIR CHILDREN, possibly Max, and two of their dogs, signed by Diana Moseley, dedicated "To Phoebe Richards, with love from Diana Moseley, 1940-41". (Phoebe Wulff nee Richards went to Germany in 1936 to visit her Aunt, her Father's Sister, who had married a German. Phoebe came home very pro- Hitler and Germany. She felt that the country was very well ordered, where she felt she could go out at night and feel perfectly safe. In 1938 a large tract of land was sold by Lord Cawdor to the Government to be used as a Tank range, Castlemain. Vallast Hill was a rented farm on the Cawdor Estate and only a short distance from the range. When war started, rumours circulated locally that lights had been seen from Vallast Hill directing the Luftwaffe to Pembroke Dock, which was highly unlikely, but in the event, Mr Richards was escorted to the Isle of Man to be interned, and Phoebe was sent to Holloway, where she met Diana Moseley. Meanwhile, the farm was run by Stuart, Phoebe's brother, and at some point Phoebe returned and married a P.O.W. German pilot. Phoebe and Peter took over the farm. The items in this lot came to the current owner when they arrived in the area in 1963 and ran an adjoining farm, and when Phoebe gave up the tenancy of the farm, the owner took over the land at Vallast Hill, and by default, Phoebe as well! Also in the lot is a reproduction of Hitler's 1914 watercolour of the ruins of a Cloister in Messines, and a postcard sent to Phoebe from Germany in 1939 with Hitler on the front shaking the hand of a Hitler youth member and a selection of photographs of members of Phoebe's family. Also a brass Swastika pole emblem.
