A 19th century builder's half model of the three masted schooner Zebrina
H & H. GANN, WHITSTABLE; 1873
A 19th century builder's half model of the three masted schooner Zebrina H & H. Gann, Whitstable; 1873 the hull of the model built up in 10 lifts, fitted with stem and keel, stump bow sprit, three (3) stump masts, anchor windlass, companionways, hatches, deck house and other details. Mounted on a painted black backboard inscribed: "Ship Builders 1/2 model (scale 1/2 inchtro the foot) of the three masted schooner barge "Zebrina"of Faversham. Built by H & H. Gann, at Whitstable 1873./Tonnage gross 185, under deck 181, nett 169, (carried 300 tons cargo) Dimensions 109' 1" x 24' 5" x 9' 9"." And further dedicated: "Presented to/Mr. Kerbey Cleveland/by/Mr. C.J. Perkins,/of Whitstable/whose late father/was master shipwright/at her/Construction." 9¼ x 57½ in. (23.5 x 146.1 cm.) backboard.
