A 19th-Century ivory hydrostatic hydrometer, unsigned, the shaft stamped with scale 1-18, the mercury bowl with screw-on cap, the instrument contained in the original turned treen case -- 7in. (17.8cm.) long; a Sykes'pattern hydrometer by Loftus with thermometer, weights and slide rule, in fitted case with maker's ivory trade label -- 9¾in.
