A black-lacquer and chinoiserie-decorated cabinet-on-stand , the upper part with courting figures with banners and canopies, stylised Eastern buildings in ivory, colourful birds, foliate scrolls and flowers, the moulded cornice with a cushion frieze drawer decorated with cherubs and fitted with pigeon holes concealing drawers, with cushion-moulded drawers about a central enclosed compartment and enclosed by a baize-lined writing fall, the stand of giltwood, with a scrolling foliate apron, on spirally fluted legs, the cabinet German, late 17th/early 18th century, the stand of a later date -- 35in. (85cm.) wide, 17½in. (44.5cm.) deep, 63in. (163cm.) high.
