Well-potted with broad shoulders and a short neck, decorated with combed 'leaf' design, the horizontal handle attached to one side of the body, a faceted spout opposite to a pair of loops, covered overall with a thin layer of green glaze pooling in deep tones closer to the bottom, the flat base and the interior partially glazed.

Compare also the Liao dynasty white-glazed jar of very similar design, in the collection of the Cleveland Museum of Art, illustrated by Watson, Tang and Liao Ceramics, New York, 1984, no. 35, of which the author notes that "the design does not occur on late Tang or Five Dynasties pottery and appears to be the invention of the Liao potters."
