AUG. 17, 1858 MAY 3, 1859, serial number marked on bottom flat of barrel, inspector's mark E on silver-plated trigger-guard, case-hardened hammer, varnished walnut grips, mahogany case partitioned and lined with burgundy velvet, euipped with blued iron bullet and ball mold (stamped J), powder flask embossed with dog and two birds, a pack of envelope cartridges Six Seamless Skin / CARTRIDGES, / With Percussion Caps, / FOR COLT'S, WHITNEY OR REMINGTON'S / Navy Pistol, 36-100 Caliber / Hotchkiss' Patent, Feb. 11, 1862. / MANUFACTURED FOR W. J. SYMS & BRO. / 300, Broadway, N. Y. / by D. C. Sage, Middleton, Conn., a jappaned cap tin with orange label ELEY BROS. / 250 / METAL-LINED .
