Property from a Private CollectionA Charles II carved oak panel-back armchair the boldly carved scrolled cresting above a later foliate carved back panel, the trapezoid seat supported by ring turned front legsCondition ReportA very decorative chair that has 'presence'. The carved cresting rail has been re-attached and there is evidence of this remedial work to where it joins the uprights. The attractively carved back panel is later and it is loose in its frame, with areas of exposed naked timber. The scrolled arms probably later, with filled holes, but very good. The seat rails drilled originally for 'string support', this has been replaced with a boarded seat at some point. Losses from historic worm to the lower edge of the back. Seat rails with fillet repairs and bolted iron batons between the legs for support, this is historic remedial repair. Legs with rubbing to carved detail at the front. The stretchers with later metal batons in place to support stresses and historic damage, it should be pointed out that the piece is solid. The front feet with fragmenting at where they join the stretcher. Each foot is re-tipped. There are old, marks, chips and repairs throughout and areas of re-polish, which mostly make complete sense with regards to the great age of this piece. Overall height 128.5cm. Overall width 68cm. Over depth (approx) 48cm. Condition 11 of the Conditions of Business for Buyers (Online Only) is not applicable to this lot. The lot is sold in the condition it is in at the time of sale. The
