A Chinese bronze ritual food vessel, gui, Western Zhou Dynasty, with dragon handles and mottled brownish patina, with some green encrustation, exhibition labels for Cape Town 1953, Radcliffe collection 'J5' and BADA, 23cm wide x 11.4cm high, 1,156 grams Compare with a similar bronze gui excavated from Tomb No. 6195, Tianma Qucun site in Shangxi Province in 1984, at the Sackler Museum of Art and Archaeology at Peking University, museum accession number 95.5775/M6195:31Provenance:Shipped by Captain W.F. Collins from Peking to London, on November 8th, 1927, and listed in the Bluetts archive as 45.5Lady Binning, acquired by her from Bluetts, February 13th, 1928, £45.00 and sold back to Bluetts by Lady Binning, February 8th, 1939 Major Edward Copleston Radcliffe (1898-1967) collection and listed in the family archive as purchased from Bluett & Sons in 1940 for £28-0s-0d, but listed in the Bluetts archive as sold to Major Radcliffe April 9th, 1943Exhibited: National Gallery of South Africa, Chinese Exhibition, Cape Town, 1953, no. 206西周 青铜弦纹簋 (克重1156g)拍品来源:Edward Copleston Radcliffe (1898-1967) 少校私人收藏(家族档案编号J5), 1943年以28英镑购自英国著名古董商Bluett & Sons。该青铜簋最早为Collins上尉于1927年11月8日从北平寄至伦敦,后在Bluett的档案中记载为1928年2月13日以45英镑售于Binning女爵,后在1939年又被Bluett购回。展览信息:1953年展览于南非国家画廊,中国艺术展览,编号206号
