A CHINESE EXPORT LACQUERED COMBINATION CHESS BOARD/DOMINO BOARD AND A COLLECTION OF CHESS PIECES AND DOMINOS 19TH CENTURY AND LATER The chess board hinged to the centre, painted to the interior with a dominos board, including two boxes of dominos and a bone cup, together with a mahogany box containing a large collection of treen chess pieces (unchecked) The chess board 4cm high, 39cm wide, 38.5cm deep Estimate $300-500 Condition: (i) The edges and corners of the chess/backgammon board are quite bumped and worn, with a number of pronounced losses to the lacquer and underlying frame; the chess playing surface is also worn; the remainder of the decoration, including the backgammon board to the interior, are better preserved; (ii) the set of chess peices is complete but the weights to eight of the pieces have become detached and the box holding the chess pieces has come apart at two corners; (iii) the boxed dominos set appears complete but the boxed set of draughts pieces is lacking one piece.
