A COLLECTION OF LEAVES FROM THREE BOOKS OF HOURS AND A MISSAL, in Latin, DECORATED AND ILLUMINATED MANUSCRIPTS ON VELLUM , [15th century]. A collection of 33 leaves from three Books of Hours and a missal, ranging in size from 150 x 98mm to 330 x 227mm, with between 15 and 27 lines of text. 13 leaves from a Book of Hours, 21 lines ruled in red, written in a regular gothic hand in dark brown ink, rubrication in blue, two line initials in gold on alternating red and blue grounds, text capitals touched yellow/gold, rectangular decorated borders along the outer edge of the text ruled in red and incorporating acanthus swirls of blue and gold surrounding sections of foliate decoration on gold grounds; another 7 leaves from two separate Books of Hours, one with border illumination and one with initials in burnished gold. Also 13 leaves from a fine Italian missal, two columns of 27 lines in a formal gothic hand in black ink, rubrics in red and text capitals in blue or red, two line initials alternating blue or red with contrasting penwork flourishing, four with card mounts (light wear to edges, additions in a modern hand throughout).
