A Collection of Medals for the Anglo-Boer War Pair: Bombardier T. Gillbanks, 7th Battery Royal Field Artillery Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 6 clasps, Cape Colony, Tugela Heights, Orange Free State, Relief of Ladysmith, Transvaal, Laing’s Nek (81170 Bomb., 7th Bty., R.F.A.); King’s South Africa 1901-02, 2 clasps ((81170 Bomb., R.F.A.) mounted for display, nearly extremely fine (2) £200-240 Footnote Thomas Gillbanks was born in St. Pancras, London. A Clerk by occupation he attested for the Royal Artillery at London on 24 October 1890, aged 19 years, 6 months. With the 50th Battery he served in India, September 1891-October 1898. He received a scalp wound on 25 December 1895. Transferred to the Army Reserve in November 1898, he was recalled to the Colours in October 1899 and served in South Africa with the 7th Battery, October 1899-September 1902. He was discharged having completed his service on 23 October 1902.
