A COLLECTION OF NEAR EASTERN AND EGYPTIAN SEALS circa 1800 b.c. - 400 a.d. Including ten cylinder seals (an Old Babylonian chalcedony seal with a priest and three standing worshippers facing a standing goddess, an Old Assyrian hematite seal with a worshipper before a weather god in ascending position, a figure and a lion behind, an Old Assyrian Colony Style hematite with two worshippers approaching a seated figure, four Neo-Assyrian seals - one of chalcedony with a hero between two winged lion-griffins, and three of black serpentine, one with two worshippers at a sacred tree with winged sun disk, one with a winged animal and a sacred tree, and one with an archer aiming at a winged lion-griffin, and two Cypriot steatite seals - one with a bearded figure and a horned animal on either side of a stylized tree, and one with a horned deity and a winged bull, a branch behind them); four Neo-Babylonian chalcedony pyramidal and conoid stamp seals (three with a figure at an altar, one with a schematic device); an Achaemenid blue glass conoid with a seated winged lion; three Sassanian ellipsoids (an agate with a seated woman, a yellow chalcedony with a profile bearded head, a hematite with a hare); fourteen Egyptian faience scarabs and scaraboids; an Egyptian glazed steatite plaque, reign of Thutmosis III, one side with a seated king, a deity behind him, the other side with a standing king; a steatite mold for the back half of a tripod leg; a Roman steatite "magic" gem, cube-shaped; and eleven enigmatic seals of later date (46)
