Volume 2 of the rare first edition of this trilingual Persian, Arabic and English dictionary, which became a standard reference for many years, and was revised by Charles Wilkins in the nineteenth century. The Orientalist John Richardson F.S.A. (c.1740-95) studied Arabic and Persian in London, and was greatly influenced by William Jones The first volume, or Persian, Arabic and English, which includes a dissertation on the languages, literature and manners of Eastern nations, was published separately. This volume, being English, Persian and Arabic is a complete dictionary in itself. Rare. Due to the size and/or weight of this lot extra shipping and/or handling charges may apply. Lot Amendments Condition: Wear and soiling to binding with edges and corners worn, some tears and chips to vellum and paper, with large area of loss to paper on bottom board, vellum starting to peel from spine, chips to edge of spine label; areas of wormhole damage throughout, mostly in margins, though occasionally with minor losses to text, some repair work and extended margins to last 4 leaves, otherwise interior solid with light toning to text block; internally very good.
