A Dutch Louis XVI mahogany quarter striking musical longcase clock, DJ Tosma Grouw, late 18th century 37-cm engraved brass dial, engraved silvered chapter ring signed D.J. Tosma Grouw, foliate pierced hands and subsidiary seconds, apertures for date, day, month and moonphase, leavers for strike silent, play/not play and tune selection to the side, foliate pierced spandrels, substantial anchor movement with trip repeating Dutch quarter striking on alternating bells and playing with an 18-cm cylinder four pairs of melodies alternating on the hours and half hours with 29 hammers and 15 bells, mahogany case with shaped top surmounted by giltwood atlas and to angels, moulded cornice with carved ornaments over foliate pierced front and side frets, break arch glazed door flanked by brass capped columns, rectangular door with an applied carved knot of ribbons and an urn, Father Time lenticle and fluted brass capped columns on canted corners, bombed base raised on claw feet height 313cm
